There is a whole heap of great reasons to fit balustrade to your decking, so it’s no wonder that it’s one of the most popular decking modifications in the UK. At Savoy Timber, we’ve got a lot to offer you in that particular department. Kicking off our series about the various options for your decking balustrades, this week we’re looking at what’s on offer when it comes to timber spindles and panels.
The classic choice. Timber spindles are designed for strength and simplicity, and give your decking an enduring, timeless appeal. Sturdy and stylish, lots of our customers like the consistency that timber spindles bring to wooden decking. The great thing about timber spindles is also that there’s quite a lot of sub-types available, depending on what sort of look you want for your decking. The turned decking spindle brings with it a period, traditional feel, while our square decking newel post – with its straight lines and flat surfaces – looks more minimalist and modern.
Our timber spindles are amongst our most cost-effective options too – handy if you’re building your decking balustrade on a budget!
These cool timber panels are great for adding a bit of character to your decking balustrade, with their two distinct designs. The Chevron Timber Decking Panel’s neat, straight lines give a fantastic modern finishing touch to your decking area. Meanwhile whereas our bestselling Sunrise Timber Decking Panel is constructed to look like the dawning of a brand new day, giving a cheerful, uplifting feel to your decking.
One of the things that make our Timber Panels so popular is the privacy aspect. Unlike spindles, there’s less space for potentially prying eyes to peer through, which is especially valued if your decking is in a semi-public area, or visible from a public highway like a nearby footpath.
Though normal wood isn’t as durable or weatherproof as other materials, we don’t use regular timber for our spindles and panels. The wood we use is pressure treated with Tanalith E; a preservative that extends the operative lifespan of our balustrade options. (This means that even if you’re buying the budget versions, it still doesn’t mean you’ll find yourself having to frequently replace them.) Our spindles and panels alike – have a 15-year anti-rot guarantee.
All our timber panels are also responsibly sourced, which means that they don’t come from trees that are chopped down with no regards to the environment at large. Instead, our wood is sourced from controlled environments that are overseen and regulated by sustainability experts, preventing long-term environmental damage by deforestation. Responsible, practical and ethical – that’s just how we do things here at Savoy Timber.
This is just a sample of what’s on offer with our decking balustrade options – we also have metal spindles, glass panels and decorative rope. Tune into the blog next week to find out more!
In the meantime, you can pop in to any of our DIY stores in Blackpool, Preston or Wigan to see them in person for yourself. Our helpful staff members are always about to lend a hand, so if you get stuck give them a shout. If you’re browsing at home, though, all you have to do is give us a quick call on 0345 0268 799, and we’ll be happy to see what we can do for you.
