At Savoy Timber, we’ve always made it a priority to make decking board sample packs available to all our customers. But, you may be thinking, why would you need one? Well, we’ve got the answer. Quite a lot of answers actually – and they’re all to do with giving you, our customers, the most freedom to choose when building your perfect decking project.
It can be surprising how something as minor as the choice of decking boards can have such a drastic effect on your deck. As well as having different practical considerations – for example, softwood is cheaper and more economical, while hardwood is tougher and more durable – the type of wood for your decking can also affect its look. The colour of your boards can make your decking look bright and breezy, or rich and cosy. That’s why it’s a great plan to have a good idea of the full range of options available before you make your decision.
What’s more, even if you think you know what kind of boards you want, it can be a right nightmare to receive them in the post and then change your mind, especially if you then decide to send them back. Wouldn’t it be easier to check them out in the flesh first? Then when you come to order, you can do so in full confidence of your choice of decking – that is, if another one doesn’t catch your eye!
We’ve got a huge range of decking boards and decking board accessories on our website – and we appreciate that sometimes it can be a little tricky to choose from them all. And while we’re very rigorous about the images we use on our site, looking at a picture is still no substitute to holding the real thing in your hands. With our decking board sample packs, not only can you see the difference between the various types of wood, but you can feel them too. You can make your own judgements on the finer differences between our deluxe and value boards, and marvel for yourself at the quality of our Balau hardwoods.
At Savoy Timber, we know our products inside out. We can tell you the difference between hardwood and softwood, and recommend the best type of wood species for your decking requirements. If you just want to get your decking up promptly so you can enjoy the summer, we’ve got some softwood suggestions for you. If you intend for your decking to be more of an ongoing project, with minor alterations here and steady adjustments there, we might direct you to our hardwoods, which have a much longer lifespan and tougher durability.
The thing is though, once you see them in the flesh, you might have some ideas of your own. You might tweak your plans to suit a new favourite wood species, or you might change your mind entirely. It’s all about finding out what suits you best, and there’s no easier way to do that than by ordering one of our sample kits.
At Savoy Timber, we’ve got a wide range of responsibly sourced quality wood decking boards in stock, which you can browse in their entirety here. Don’t forget, you can always pop into one of our stores in Blackpool. Wigan or Preston, and get the inside scoop from one of our friendly members of staff. We’re here to lend a hand!
